Story about myself

For those of you who are using TypingStudy, it might be interesting, who is behind this website? Why would anyone make such an input on a free website? Let me tell you about how I got to know touch typing.

My name, as you probably know, is Annija. And most probably you are pronouncing it in an incorrect way. :)
However, my journey with touch typing started when I was 7 years old. We moved back to the capital city from a small town in Latvia and my mom immediately started working for a company that was probably one of the first ones to have computers in Latvia at that time. I didn’t have a nanny, so mom took me to her work once in a while. To entertain me, she gave me a place by the computer (oh, you can’t even imagine, how old-school it was. I still remember it!). Yes, it was even before the Windows 95.

So what I did was I started exploring. I naturally and instinctively started to get to know the computer better, started typing, playing some games. After short period of time I could already blind type (type without looking at the keyboard). However, I wish I had a tutor do learn to do it correctly, because it wasn’t easy to start to adjust myself to use more than 5 fingers.

Right now my current typing speed is ~55 words per minute (see our challenging speed test - links).
Write in comments - what is your speed test? Could be interesting to make a comparison. This is a short story of mine, which basically says - practice makes perfect. That is what I can suggest you.

What is your story?
